Styled for metal

Combined with the Ibanez RGD body style, this ultimate metal machine invites you to explore the depths of down tuning. The RGD’s beveled body, contoured horn cuts, extra long 26.5” scale and ability to accurately intonate heavier string gauges, make it the perfect beast for down-tuned metal.

5-piece neck offers stability and durability

The ultra-thin 5-piece Maple/Wenge Wizard-7 neck offers rock solid stability and lightning-fast performance. A Macassar Ebony fretboard provides a tight low end with a quick response and extreme rigidity. The fretboard is augmented with Jumbo frets dressed with the exclusive Prestige fret edge treatment.

Richlite on the top

The most unique feature about this model is the material on top, Richlite, which is a durable, stable and highly sustainable material made from resin-infused paper. By using this hard material on the body top, we can get an articulated, clear tone and tight sounds for modern metal players.

Built for comfort

The bold horn cut provides full, comfortable access to the higher frets. The taper of these horns greatly improves player comfort at the upper end up the fretboard. These beveled edges are another of the many innovations that have come out of our relationships with talented Ibanez artists.

Powerful Dimarzio pickups

Developed in collaboration with Ibanez, the DiMarzio Fusion Edge pickups have been engineered to produce a powerful, distinctive tone with a crisp, cutting high end, and a tight, compressed bottom end, minus any muddy mid-range. The Lo-Pro Edge 7 bridge is designed for precise intonation adjustment and endless sustain. The RGD comes factory-tuned in A tuning. A hard shell case is included.

 

What Ibanez Says…

The RGD is Ibanez’s ultimate metal machine. The demands of down-tuning require a specifically designed responsiveness not found in “normal” guitars. To optimize for the rich, desirable thickness of tone that down-tuning produces, we extended the neck by one inch to a 26.5″ scale. Longer-than standard yet not overly long. The neck is still considered a “fast” neck for speed soloing. Extra-deep cutaways grant comfortable access to the necks highest notes. There are three principles behind our new Ibanez Prestige line: Precision, Performance, and Playability. The combination of high-tech manufacturing techniques with old-world Japanese craftsmanship, true innovation in design and construction, and the incorporation of ideas and suggestions from musicians from around the world are the cornerstones of the Prestige production process.

Macassar Ebony fretboard

Macassar Ebony produces a tight low and mid range with an iconic attack on the high end. It also features a quick response and rich sustain.

Wizard-7 Neck

Slim, fast and durable Wizard-7 5pc Maple/Wenge neckfinished with a smooth curve.

Luminlay side dot inlay

The Luminlay side dot position marks make it easy for players to see fretboard position marks when performing on dark stages.

Shipping Policy

Son Sound delivers countrywide (South Africa - not outside the borders of South Africa), at the shipping rates charged in the shopping cart/checkout - depending on the item(s) and order. Please provide your delivery address on checkout. All deliveries will be booked on economy road freight, which means 2-5 business days delivery from date of order - depending on your location.

Refund Policy

Due to the vast number of products on our store, it is not possible to keep al prices and availability up to date. Therefore, customers are prompted to first confirm prices and availability before placing an order and making an online payment.

SON SOUND will either give a store credit, exchange or refund on any online purchase within 7 days under the following terms and conditions:

  • If a product\'s price has changed or not available and an order was placed and paid online without the customer confirming the latest price and availability, SON SOUND will refund the customer the full paid amount MINUS 3.5% up to 5% (depending on the payment method the customer used) - which is the service fee charged by our payment gateway provider.
  • If the product was delivered and the customer is not happy with the product, the product must be returned at the customer\'s expense, upon which SON SOUND will accept the return provided that the product packaging has not been severely damaged and the product has not been used, installed or show physical damages. Products must be returned in its original packaging. Three and a half percent (3.5%) of the purchase price will be deducted if payment was made online as payment gateway service fee.
  • Software products cannot be exchanged or refunded.
  • Products will not be refunded or exchanged due to incompatibility. Please check compatibility information before placing an order.
  • Credits, exchanges or refunds can only be granted after the product has been returned and inspected (and tested) by trained technical staff to determine if the condition of the returned product grants a credit, refund or exchange. Items cannot be credited, exchanged or refunded before this procedure has been completed. Depending on the product and our supplier, it may take any time from 5-20 working days to process.
  • A delivery fee will be charged again whenever the product is replaced with the same or another.
  • If an out-of-box defect can be determined or any defects covered under the manufacturer\'s warrantee, such warrantee will be honored.
